Paxton's First Fourth

The 4th of July is always a busy holiday for us.  Not only do we have several families that want to spend time with us, but it's also Jared's mom's birthday.  This year, we started early with the parade.  We had parked my car along the parade route on Friday night, so we had a prime spot under a shade tree.  Paxton slept through most of the parade.

We stopped at our house to feed Paxton and give him a chance to cool off a little bit and then headed to Jared's Granny's house for a cookout and a birthday celebration for Jared's mom.  We tried to put Pax down for a nap in one of the guest rooms at Granny's house but everybody was too excited to see him so he didn't really sleep.  After we ate, Pax got passed around so everyone could see him.  At this point he was on his second 4th of July outfit (he had three.....).

After the cookout, we stopped back at our house to feed Pax and try again to get him to take a nap.  He wanted none of it.  At that point he was starting to get fussy.  In an average day, he usually takes a nap after each feeding...usually for about an hour...today he had slept for about 45 minutes altogether.  Finally we had to give up to make it to Jared's mom's house for dinner.  After some pizza and some snuggles for Paxton, we went to the fireworks.  We watched the fireworks at UCO which I had never done before.  It was a great view of them, but it took forever to get out afterwards and all we wanted to do was go home and get in bed.  I was worried that Paxton was going to be scared of the fireworks or not even pay attention to them, but he LOVED them.  He stared at them almost the entire time and the noise didn't seem to bother him at all.  I hope that stays as he gets a little older.

Paxton made up for all of his lost sleep by taking a 5 hour nap the next day.

And of course...here are some pictures of Paxton from the past few days:

So, I have been needing to get Paxton some 6 month pajamas because he is too long for the 3 month ones.  I found some great deals on the Carter's website.  I was able to fine 7 onesies and 3 pairs of pajamas for $42 after tax and shipping.  I love Carter's clothes and I loved those prices!  One of the things I was really excited about was this outfit:

These pajamas are the same ones we first bought when we found out we were having a boy (in the newborn size) and he wore them for his newborn pictures:

So when I found them on sale for $7 in the 6 month size...I couldn't pass them up.  He looks completely different in them now...it shows how much he has grown up in just three short months.  I miss sweet newborn Paxton sometimes but he's at such a fun age right now!  I can tell he's starting to recognize Jared and me and we love it.  He is so interactive and is starting to put everything in his mouth.
