Baby Fever

So pretty much every single time we go to any store that has baby stuff, we go look.  We have complete outfits picked out (down to the shoes) for either a boy or a girl...all that's left is finding out what it is.  Last time we went to the doctor they said we wouldn't find out until the middle of November....which will be at 22 weeks.  This is good news because it means that the doctor is careful, she wants to make sure that it is what she says it is; but, that's a REALLY long time to wait....which led to us making a gender-neutral purchase:

OU onesies!!!

So we buckled under the pressure....but other than that we've been holding back...mostly just stocking up on diapers.  We heard they go through a lot of those.

Week 5
Week 15!
The baby is the size of an orange this week.  I can't believe how much it has grown since we found out...from a little chocolate sprinkle to a huge orange!!  It is growing hair and eyelashes this week too.

Guess it's about time to tell my boss....I'm growing out of all my clothes....

Engine Problems

Another doctor’s appointment and all good news.   Caitlynne is constantly calling me a ball of stress.  And I am.  We can be sitting in traffic with plenty of time to get where we are going and I’ll be stressed and frustrated.  I can’t help it.  A big part of it is uncertainty of what’s to come.  I hate not knowing if everything is going to work.  She’s the opposite.  Her favorite saying is “If it’s meant to happen, then it will.”  That’s why we work so well together.  I keep us from getting evicted and having the electric paid off by paying bills right away, and she keeps me from having a heart attack at 27 over something not worth fretting about.

 (I don't know)

Of course, one thing I’m really worried about all of the time is Caitlynne's and the baby’s health.  I constantly have to remind myself to not think of all of the things that can go wrong, but to think about how many people go through pregnancy and labor without having any complications.  So, the other day I was thinking to myself, I wish there was a way to catch something before it happens.  This applies to after the baby is born as well.  I was in Wal-Mart the other day and this kid was screaming his head off.  I could hear it from across the store, literally.  When I got to the front to checkout, there he was still screaming and his dad was trying to calm him down.  I know that there are ways to prevent that, but I was sitting there thinking “that could be me.”

Why don’t humans have one of these?  They tell you when your car has something wrong with it before you even feel the symptons.  Why doesn’t Caitlynne have one on her head?  It would be so nice to have one on the baby’s head so before it starts throwing a fit in Wal-Mart at age two, the light can pop on and I can take the necessary steps.  You can see below where this could fit into the equation.

So you don't get to here.

This is going to be a bumpy ride...

Sweet Little Plum

We took dinner to our friends that just had a baby and she was the sweetest thing ever: perfect little ears, soft skin, chubby cheeks and a tiny fringe of eyelashes.  As I was holding her, I realized exactly how much of a blessing this little person is.  It comes out completely trusting and loving you with its whole heart, and then it's our job as parents to make sure that it maintains as much of that love and trust as possible.  Then I looked at Jared looking at the baby and I just melted.  He had that daddy look.  I can't wait for him to look at our baby like that.  I know he's going to be such an amazing dad:  patient, loving, great morals, fun, and so protective.  I just want to take thousands of pictures of him holding our little baby.

We made it to 12 weeks on Friday which has been great.  The riskiest part of the pregnancy is over, and so is the morning sickness.  The baby is the size of a plum this week and its ears and eyes are where they're supposed to be.  It knows how to swallow now too.  My favorite thing is that its little nails are starting to develop.  I just picture those little baby fingers with little bitty nails...I can't wait to see them!!

Mom's Good Looks?

I can't help but wonder what this baby will look like.  I know right
now, it looks like something off of the movie Independence Day, and
it's the size of a kiwi, but I am anxious to know if people will be
saying "You look just like your mommy/daddy."

Of course I can spend a lot of time researching sites to determine how
the science of genetics work, but I say you should just be able to
mesh two baby photos together and BAM!  There's your baby.
Looking at the trends of my family, if the baby takes after me it will
have that Lewis family nose and gleaming bald head.  (Notice the left
side of the picture)

So I met science halfway.  Thanks MorphThing.com

I'm pretty sure this is the most accurate way of determining this.
Now all we can do is wait, and hope for the best!
