Dedicating our Baby

Paxton was dedicated at church today.  When I was little, we went to a church that baptized babies on the parents' authority and then the child could choose to go through confirmation around high school.  I liked the idea of this.  It is reassuring to think that once you baptize your baby, it will go to Heaven...but that's not really how it works...I also like the idea of deciding for yourself once you're a little older.

The church we go to now is a little different.  Babies are dedicated to the church as a reminder that it is really God's child...not ours and as a promise that the parents will raise the baby to follow God.  Then, once an individual decides to take the next step, they are baptized.  This is much closer to how baptism works in the Bible.  I can't really say that either way is right or wrong...but I do think that if you believe you are baptized then it doesn't really matter when it happened.

Anyway, today was Paxton's day.  He looked so handsome in his polo and khaki pants.

Most of our families came out to support Paxton:

Vickie, Papaw, Jared, Paxton, and I
(Jared's brother Josh and two of his aunts were there also...but somehow we didn't get any pictures with them)
Maesynne, Bevynne and my momma

Paxton did great at church, and he loved all the attention he got afterwards.

We were so grateful for our family members that came to support Paxton on his big day.  It is amazing to see the people who are willing to rearrange their weekend to commit to raise Paxton as a Christian.  He is so lucky to have such a dedicated, supportive and loving family.

We also got a few family pictures in:
