Motorcycles, Buffloes and Fat Lips

Paxton is still obsessed with going outside. Now his favorite outdoor activity is walking around the driveway and trying to walk into the street.

He has entered into the copycat stage. Jared likes to take big monster steps and then we laugh as Paxton tries to do it too. He has also started squatting down whenever I squat down to take pictures of him. We have lots of pictures like this now:

He also has figured out that banging on the garage door makes a super loud noise.

Heading for the street:

We went and ate dinner at Alfredo's with Grandpa, Uncle Josh and Uncle Mason. Paxton got some quality snuggles with Uncle Josh:

And he got to sit on Grandpa's motorcycle!! He thought he was pretty cool.

He loved when Grandpa would rev it.

Jared and I were playing in Pax's room with him on Friday night and Paxton lost his balance and hit his mouth on his construction site toy. His lip started swelling up immediately, so I gave him one of his Pedialyte Popsicles. He was happy and his swelling was gone by the time he finished.

(it made me a little sad because suddenly he's old enough to hold it by himself...at least he was snuggled in my lap the whole time)

I love this picture of Pax and Scarlett:

She spun around for about six minutes trying to get comfy on this pillow and as soon as she did, Paxton came over to play.

We tried out this tiny toddler-sized playground at Hafer Park on Saturday evening. I had high expectations since it was all made for smaller kids and Paxton had loved the park by our house on Thursday...

He liked this car that rocked:

And he liked the steering wheel on top of the slide:

But he hated the slide. He cried when he got to the bottom. We thought it was a crazy fluke, or maybe he wasn't prepared or something so we had him try again. He climbed up willingly:

But cried at the bottom again. I guess slides just aren't his thing for now.

On Sunday evening, we went downtown to walk around and let Jared take some pictures for our new living room frames. Paxton was less than excited.

We went to the bombing memorial and walked around. I always feel sad there, but this time the idea of those daycare kids really hit me as I pushed my toddler in his stroller. It was definitely more meaningful to me this time than it has been in the past.

Pax and the reflecting pool:

After that, we wanted to do something a little more lighthearted, so we took Pax to see the buffalo. He thought they were pretty neat. He walked right up to the first guy and rubbed his nose.

He also gave them lots of kisses (on the front and back ends).

And just for fun I added the video of Paxton throwing the wood chips at the park on Thursday. I think it's too funny not to share.

The Park!

Now that Paxton is getting a little bigger and is able to do things outside of the house more, I am struggling to come up with activities that he will enjoy. One thing I thought of was having park day on Thursdays. Each Thursday we will try a new park around Edmond. Now that kids are back in school he won't be in their way and he can run around safely.

Paxton and I walked to the park by our house this Thursday. It was a little less hot than it has been, so we decided to take advantage of it.

It ended up being a really fun trip, it was the first time I felt like Paxton actually enjoyed the park.

He took off as soon as I let him out of the stroller.

He loves climbing steps right now, so of course these were fun.

The swings were my favorite part. He has liked swings for a few months now, but this time he laughed and squealed the entire time. It was precious.

I love his little fingers holding on.

Then we went over to the tube. He crawled through it over and over...about sixteen times.

After that, he thought it was fun to pick up handful after handful of wood chips and throw them. Luckily there were no other kids there for him to throw them at.

Phone Dump

Paxton took his first trip to college this weekend. We went to OSU to move Maesynne and Bevynne into their dorm rooms. He was kind of a handful. He spilled his entire cup of milk all over their living room floor and was obsessed with trying to go into their roommates room.

Here he is in front of Aunt Bevynne's room telling us he's "sooo big":

He has been insisting on trying on sunglasses every time we pass them:

And he brings me his blankie multiple times each day to play peekaboo:

On Friday we tried the catfish place by Daddy's work. Paxton had his first hush puppies and catfish.

He was a fan.

We celebrated Maddy's 16th birthday. She got a musical card which led to some dancing:

We left Pax's booster in Daddy's trunk when he went to work one day, so Paxton got to sit at the table like a big kid:

He has started bringing everything to me. He has even figured out how to lift heavy things like this car from Santa to bring me.

And Elmo is tough to carry but of course he makes the sacrifice. We have to hear him sing all day long.

I finally got him a cute Jon Jon:

And he looked pretty cute in it playing with his new trash truck:

Last Wednesday he came down with a runny nose and wasn't feeling good.

Poor little sick guy:

We did lots of quiet things for a few days, like watching the Office on Mommy and Daddy's bed:

And lots of cuddling with Daddy:

He is feeling a lot better now but still has a little bit of a runny nose. It doesn't slow him down though. He is so busy right now and he seems like he's getting bigger every day.

Fingerpainting for Daddy

I have been looking for some fun indoor activities to do with Paxton now that he's less content just staying home, playing with the same toys every day. I found a recipe for edible fingerpaint and thought that was something he would enjoy. I mean, he loves smearing his spaghetti sauce all over his tray so same thing, right?

The set-up before he started:

First stroke:

He got very concerned about his messy hands partway through:

But then he figured out he could lick them off. After that there was a lot more eating than painting.

On his second piece, he mostly banged on the page with his paint-covered hands.

He was pretty happy with the results:

And we immediately followed painting with a bath (where he dumped an entire full cup of water straight into my lap).

Daddy was excited to hang his painting up by his desk at work:

It was a really messy activity, but the end results were pretty neat and he had a lot of fun. It is definitely something we'll repeat.
